Assessments and reports: Reports

New studentS will automatically be assessed during the first few classes with us. If a teacher feels they are in the wrong class they will, with consultation with the other teachers decide which classes are appropriate.
New students have an automatic assessment report/assessment, which is given in week 8.   This is a simple report keeping you informed about your progress.

Level Classes

Written assessments are conducted for students in Level 1-4 and are part of our Audition Assessment process in Term 1. There is also a formal written report in each subject by the class teacher on week 8 of term 3.

Kids FeetWhat should students wear?

SStudents should wear comfortable clothing and footwear, which enables free movement. Girls usually wear leotards and boys a t-shirt with bike or track pants and jazz shoes. Light sneakers are allowed. In the cool weather students may wear warmer clothing over these garments for Singing and Acting classes and then take them off for the Dancing classes. Long hair should be kept back off the face (so teachers can see students' faces).

Awards

The school presents encouragement awards and some scholarships based on the scores given by the Assessors at the Audition Assessments. The awards are presented at the Mid Year Showcase Performances and include the “Student of the Year Award”
Approximately $10,000.00 worth of awards are given annually.

The Foyer

Each School has a foyer waiting area for both students and parents. Parents are welcome to wait in the foyer during class time, or drop students off and return for them prior to the end of class.

Please note: It is important parents are available to collect their child when they come out of class. The Mighty Good Talent School is not responsible for their safety or well being once students have left the building.

The foyer area, at some times, can become very congested, in particular when classes are changing over. As a result we trust that all students and parents be patient during these times as we endeavour to assist you.

Lost property and valuables

After classes have concluded, students and parents should take a moment to check they have all of their personal belongings. Lost property is only kept for two months. Following this period it is donated to a reputable charitable organisation.
Students are requested not to leave watches, money and other valuable items in the dressing rooms. These items should be handed to the staff for safe keeping at Administration.

No exams / competitions

There are no external exams or competitions that form part of the Mighty Good Talent Performance Package School Curriculum.

E-News and Newsletters Computer chatting

Throughout the year you will receive information via e-mail or newsletters providing valuable information.
These sent twice per month or (if a hard copy) handed to students after their last class of the day.
We cannot impress on you enough how important it is for parents to read all information supplied to them.
In most cases it will require direct action to be taken and will include important details regarding special events or alterations to class times or activities.

What can you do to help?

We can't stress enough the importance of communication between parents and school management. It's not possible for parents to discuss students' needs and progress with teachers, who are naturally always in class when parents are at the school. However, the School Co-ordinators are available to answer any questions and assist with your enquiries.
It's vital all parents ensure that they keep themselves up to date with the activities and happenings at the Mighty Good Talent School as this knowledge will always provide benefits for your child.
Encouragement is another area where parents can assist. Maintaining a positive attitude towards learning and providing constant feedback will ensure an environment that is conducive to rapid learning and achievement.
Our most successful students have all attended the Mighty Good Talent School for many years (many over 10 years) and all attribute their rapid growth from (in some cases) awkward uncoordinated children to successful professional entertainers to the amount of positive energy and encouragement they had around them from friends, family and teachers.
The performing arts are like any other academic or sporting pursuit. Providing positive feedback and maintaining an interest in children's progress will ensure they grow in their chosen field, at their own pace and with confidence.
We all need to remember students are individuals and may not make equal progress at every lesson. We all have "off" days and children are no exception.

Special classes

Special classes to serve the needs of an individual Student and/or group can be arranged if required.

Please contact our School Co-ordinators on (08) 8443 9999 if you require any further information.
